Um, and whether it was here in the Palisades or in Altadena? I think that, um, we were under unusual circumstances with the winds, and there should have been a more robust response, particularly in the Palisades. Um, I know somebody who called in the fire was told she was the second person to call, and she waited on Palisades Drive to see what the response was. And she saw two fire trucks come by in about ten minutes. And so I'm waiting for the reports to come out. Um, I don't want to get into a blame game. I think that there were so many factors involved, but I think we do need to know what all was involved. Um, how do we harden our response besides hardening our rebuild? And I think a lot of the focus is on how are we going to rebuild the houses and the structures. How do we make them more fire resistant? What kind of planting are we allowed to have that kind of stuff? Um, but in the end, when you have winds at 60 to 90 miles an hour and very dry conditions and a neighborhood that is packed with houses, which any urban situation is going to be like that, you got to have an appropriate response. Um, we lived in the Huntington Palisades on Ocampo and Pampas Ricas. So we're older and we're not in the first half of our lives. And, um, we loved our neighborhood and our neighbors. And we do have neighbors who we know are coming back. We have neighbors across the street from us that their house is intact and they're remediating, um, And their dear, dear friends. We actually saw them last night. Um, so there's a big part of me that wants to go back, but then there's a big question about how long will this take for the community to come back. And you know, how much, how many more years do we have? Um, so we're kind of going back and forth. I think that there's a lot of people who are in the same boat in terms of being concerned about the changes that will come. You know, who's going to have the money to to buy and build? Um, we know that there are developers coming in. We hope that what they say about trying to maintain the character of the Palisades is true. Um, but it's a big it's a big question mark. Will Pacific Palisades be. The community? It was. And in some ways, it can never be, because part of the charm was that there was such a variety of people and in houses, you know, and people of all different ages. There were different socioeconomic standards. Some of the community was very homogenous. So, you know, ethnically, there was not a lot of diversity. And I would welcome a change in that. Um, but, you know, just people who really love the community and want to be part of it as what we had is important, too. Well, I know I've taken away that, um, people and friendships are what's really important in those connections and the like. Going back to the Palisades Village Cafe, part of what brought us back there is because James and David and you know, all the people who work there and, you know, the first day we showed up, everybody was hugging each other. So even with the people who work there and own businesses there and the people who live and reside there, there is such a connection. And maintaining those connections is what's really important. Um, well, first of all, I'm really impressed by the resiliency of your generation having gone through Covid and now the fire. Um, and, you know, there's so much that you guys have lost in your very short lives. Um, life can be short, or it can be long, and, um, and having an understanding of being able to, um, develop those friendships and keep those connections and, um, move through whatever the changes of life come is, I think the most important thing that you can take from this. I had forgotten about bringing something and I, I did talk about, um, one of the things, one of the first things I found in the rubble was, um, a little cross from a necklace that I had, and I was able to get it restored. Um, and so now I have. That's one of the few pieces of jewelry that survived. I found other jewelry, but it's still kind of destroyed. Um, I think the The response of the of Los Angeles to the fires and, you know, people reaching out. And we had so many friends who lived in different areas who said, you know, oh, I've got a room, come and stay with us. And we actually went and lived with friends for two weeks in South Pasadena because they had a little guest house. We are a disparate city. I mean, there's so many different people here and so many people have come from all over. But, you know, there's something that brings people here and keeps people living here. And wherever you settle, you want to build a community. You want a place where your kids can thrive. And I think that that's the hope for Los Angeles is that despite all of the crap that's gone on, all the Ice raids and marches or whatever, we still have people who are willing to band together and take care of each other.
