Um, my experience has been definitely a bumpy road. Obviously, this event was very tragic and has impacted me both emotionally and mentally and physically through my displacement. Um, I'm definitely. As time has passed, I've learned to approach the grief in many different ways through different forms of expression. Um, but I definitely have really allowed it to make a positive impact as well, through seeing my community's resilience and taking that as inspiration for my future. Um, the day after the fire, seeing donation sites pop up, um, seeing friends willing to offer their homes to me, and even just any community members offering to bring groceries, the little things made a huge impact. And to see how, despite this tragic event, that we as a community are stronger than this was very beautiful to see. Um, I have personally liked to get myself involved with these community actions. Um, I have joined a lot of volunteer initiatives as well as I actually started my own, um, initiative in collaboration with a couple non-profit organizations to provide free prom dresses to these fire victims. So that was definitely a way to use my resources as well as help people like me with this tough time. Um, we actually finished like in May, so it went really well. Um, we were featured on CBS and it was we donated it around, I want to say 80 prom dresses to girls and femmes. So it was an amazing initiative. And just to see everyone, um, really happy with these garments and to see them have a good time despite the loss is something really beautiful and something I want to continue to do. Um, I think I want to definitely continue with like the beauty initiatives to help restore some normalcy in their high school experience. Because I know that certain life events, such as prom or homecoming, they're very crucial to someone's high school experience. So I definitely want to continue with the dress elements. But even maybe if it's in other subtle ways, like having larger events and social hangouts, like anything just to slowly build that normalcy back. Um, that's hard to say. I want to say probably Christmas Tree Lane. That's probably the most standard answer, but, um, I'd always remember every year I'd go on Christmas to Christmas Tree Lane. My family and I would walk from my house and just to see how lively it is and how beautiful that street is lit up is definitely a memory I always take, and hopefully it'll be back. Hopefully that wasn't the last time, but definitely my top. Um, I think I just want to see the community back together and definitely that same diversity of backgrounds. I think that's what made Altadena so beautiful was the different working class, um, the different working classes as well as, like, the different beliefs, all of that. I think that was made it really beautiful. And my fear right now is that that will go away due to like, big corporations trying to buy out a lot of these homes because financially to rebuild, it's a lot. And so I just really, really hope that it it still has that element of diversity and community. So it isn't just getting gentrified. I know a lot of people who are planning to rebuild, which is amazing to see. Um, I also do know a lot of people who have to sell due to certain reasons or, um, their sibling is going to college, so they're trying to move closer to them. Um, but I have heard lots of stories of people fighting with insurance and not even getting any help in any form. So that is definitely a big impact right now to the rebuilding process. So I think, um, yeah, it really depends on everyone's situation. Um, necessarily like physical, I don't I haven't lost anything just because my house is still, um, up, but. Well, I mean, a lot of my items are still over there I can't access right now. Um, but I don't. I've learned to kind of stray away from viewing my home and, like, my little clothes or makeup as more materialistic and things that I don't need and focus. I now focus on more. What can I not replace and what are these people mean to me, the community? How can it leave an impact on me? So I've definitely found along the way that I've grown to be a huge community advocate, and I really strive to help my community in any way possible, despite my own struggles. Um, just to give back in any way I can. So I definitely think so. I think it's been, at least from what I've heard, like a, a community, um, lesson. I think we've all learned. Yes, despite this loss, everything is definitely changing. But we are also growing with this change. And I think that's what makes our well as well as the Palisades, all of our stories so beautiful is how we've come from this, instead of how it's affected us. Um, I've also actually learned how to say my words and like my emotions through different forms, like art. I'm definitely big into art right now, and I actually made a piece around Altadena Resilience to highlight the, um, the tragedy and all of the destruction it left. Whereas below it was, um, these fire poppies blooming, which only grow under fire conditions, just to kind of represent our resilience and how beautiful our community is. So just adding those to know that those are kind of gone. It was definitely hard, but I think I was really happy to see, um, just the way we were coming back and how I can put that and express it in different little forms. It was really, really fun to do. I think it's been not everyone has done it just because they know a lot of people aren't into it as much as certain people are, but I have seen a good number of people do it. I actually donated the vase in which I use my a part of my piece to this church that was doing a art gallery of recovery for Altadena, and a lot of artists donated their photographs or drawings, um, all based on their emotions or experiences in Altadena. So that was really nice to see.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164589/file/299696#t=376.34,441.44"}]},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164589/file/299696/index/90454","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["Auto-generated Index (2025-10-29 20:56:05) [Index]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164589/file/299696/index/90454/annotation/4","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Introduction and Initial Impact","format":"text/plain","label":{"en":["Title"]}}],"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164589/file/299696#t=0.0,41.0"},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164589/file/299696/index/90454/annotation/5","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"The speaker introduces themselves as a student at Westridge School in Pasadena and describes the profound impact of a recent tragic event.
