Um, I don't know. It's been lots of, uh, community events, lots of community outreach, I guess. Um hmm. Let me think. Um. I think, I don't know, my. I've lived in Altadena for 14 years at this point. Um, and community has always been a very big part of it. Um, there were, you know, I remember food truck nights at the local Grocery Outlet. I remember, um, concerts in the park. And I think those kinds of events have really made their way into such like, the Altadena culture and what it means to be in Altadena. Um, and I think all of those events, I guess being put back on and having like the want the demand for it to be back on. Kind of shows the power of Altadena as a whole. And um, at the six month commemoration event of the fire, were easily 100 people gathered in a parking lot, um, where, you know, we listen to people speak, we listen to music. And while it was a period of sadness, definitely for those who had lost their homes, it was also a time of reflection. I think it was a time where we came together and we said, we're defined by who we are, and I think that's one of the powers of Altadena is that, you know, a fire can take away our home, but they can't take away our community. And that's something that I think I've really seen throughout all of this period. I guess, you know, the main thing that comes to mind is primarily my mom. My mom is Victoria Knapp. She is the she was the chair of the Altadena Town Council, um, during the fire. So, you know, she's become like she's my role model. She is, um, one of the hardest working people I know. And as as soon as the fire broke out, she was the one, um, coordinating response, coordinating information. She set up an entire. She helped set up an entire website dedicated to pulling together the most correct information. And she's just been, you know, a community leader for me and for thousands of other Altadena fans. Um, and I'm so proud of my mom for all the work she's done. And I know that even as we lost our home, she still, you know, in between the grieving, she still made time to be my mother, to be a great person and to be someone, you know, that's caring for not only herself and her family, but for the rest of the community. And so I think my mom has been, you know, my rock. I think she's stayed so strong throughout all of it. And the work that she's done through these last six months has been nothing short of incredible. And my brother, my brother is, you know, he's young, he's turning 13 this year. And so he spent his whole life in Altadena and but he's you know, he's also remained a trooper and he he adapts and I look and I admire him for his ability to adapt to such a new situation. And, you know, my dad has become like the glue. He binds us all together. Um, he's supported us. He's grieved with us. He's, you know, he's been there when we needed it most. And so I think my family has been the biggest part in my resilience, I guess. And I think without them, I would probably be a wreck right now. So I think response to all of it, I think it's a lot of grief. It's a lot of sadness, um, sometimes confusion. I think, you know, why did this happen to us? You know? But I think it's a lot of, you know, now it's time to move on. It's time to, you know, start picking it, picking up the pieces. And I think during the first few months it was very stressful. My mom's still going to meetings every other day. She used to be going to meetings every day, appearing in interviews and on meetings and on, you know, there were there were, you know, long stretches of time where I didn't even see my mom for the whole day. And I think that's definitely stressful, not only for her, but also for us. Um. And he I think losing another, you know, familiar space is hard for him. Um, and for me, you know, losing my my house, my 14 years of memories and all of the things that I've done and all the memories I've made, you know, all that sort of disappearing overnight. I guess that was hard. Um, but I don't know. I'm here now, so I think that's pretty much. I think I'm doing pretty well now. Um, I don't know. I think overall we're in we're in an okay place. We're. Where I think we're doing better than we would if there were other circumstances. But. I think for now, I think we're doing the best we can. I think all of us in our family developed a stronger sense of community. I guess we've all, you know, found the importance of being there for the rest of the community and, and other people that were there for us. You know, we received meals from, um, people throughout the community and across, you know, the country. And I guess from people in, you know, a family in Illinois were, you know, managing a meal plan for us. They were sending us, um, food. They were they were managing, you know, I guess a GoFundMe, I don't know, but I think a lot of it is just community. It's so powerful to be in a great community of people that care. And, and that's I think that's a big proponent of, you know, my strength and the strength of my family, I guess. Um, I think faith in each other is powerful faith in, um, what can be that's like something that, um, is big for us. It's, you know, we're we sort of think of ourselves as like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Um, you know, when my, my mom gave a quote that's still, you know, powerful to me, it's when she was asked to describe Altadena, she said feral in the best possible way. And I think that's definitely true. You know, we're we're resilient. We're powerful on our own and we're powerful. We're even more powerful as a community. So right now, I would say just time. I think it's just time to rebuild. To recreate what? And to sort of make Altadena. Altadena again. Um, you know, a lot of the properties have been cleared now. So which I think is a big milestone in our recovery. And, um, yeah, my mom has been, you know, a huge, a huge trouper throughout all of it. Um, you know, the night after or even the night of the fire, she was, you know, she was, um. She was coordinating, you know, information. She was already talking to people, um, across the county. She was, you know, the next the the next morning, the first call she received was from the mayor of Paradise, California. The California town up north who was affected by the Camp Fire in 2018. And um, and so that and that was really powerful. You know, that the first person that reached out to her was someone from, um, another affected community. And, you know, she's hosted she's met with, you know, the governor, she's met with, um, people from the county, from the state. She's she toured, um, the, you know, she led countless tours of delegates, of people from Congress, of people from, um, Washington that came out to survey, um, you know, what's been happening. She gave so many interviews and, you know, it's she's she's really, like, the main source of information. And, you know, her and the town council have, like, definitely been one of the major, Major. Um, I guess factors in our recovery. You know, she's coordinated with the Army Corps of Engineers who managed to clear all the properties in a span of six months, which is incredible. And, you know, she is managing relief funds. She's managing, um, she's managing information. She's helping others get to a point where they can feel comfortable in rebuilding. And she's combating all the misinformation. She is still like an incredible person. And I think just the work that she's done is huge for Altadena. And I'm so proud of her. And, you know, it's just it's inspiring of just how much work she's done and how much, um, she's put into the rebuilding effort when, you know, everything else was taken away.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164594/file/299703#t=3.68,652.42"}]},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164594/file/299703/index/90461","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["Auto-generated Index (2025-10-29 22:39:44) [Index]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164594/file/299703/index/90461/annotation/2","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Community's Role in Recovery","format":"text/plain","label":{"en":["Title"]}}],"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164594/file/299703#t=0.0,72.0"},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164594/file/299703/index/90461/annotation/3","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"The speaker emphasizes the significant role that the Altadena community has played in their recovery process.
