Of course. Um, I've lived in Altadena my entire life, so that's the only home I've really known. And I went to Saint Mark's from preschool to third grade, so it was just a short walk away. So I've really been enveloped in the community my whole life. I've basically stayed within it for my first ten years of my life, and I grew up playing sports there. I would go to Victory Park, play soccer, I'd go to Farnsworth Park, watch my brother play baseball. So I was just like always in Altadena and very connected. Yeah, I think it was it's very special. And I might be biased because it's home to me, but I think the people are very unique. They come from all sorts of different places. Everyone has a different story. And I mean, there's people who've been living there for generations, but I don't know, I think just different types of people, people with different jobs and people doing interesting things. Um, my neighbor was literally in a band, really famous. I forget what it's called, but just really interesting people with stories to share, and I think there are a lot of different places, like the restaurants and other small businesses in Altadena, that made it really interesting as well, and not just the same as other neighborhoods. I definitely think that is a concern because people are weighing whether it would hurt their long term business goals and everything to stay in Altadena, and that would be really a shame because I think before the fires, Altadena was in such a good place. It was starting to become more well known and people were coming to the community and it was really thriving. So I really hope that this hasn't changed that forever, but I think people are really resilient and want to stay in the community, so I hope that doesn't change. I mean, it's definitely hard because a lot of developers are coming in and want to sell the land, and I think it's hard because they're not really in it for as good moral reasons. I think they're in it for money and they're not connected to the community. So I think that aspect is hard and people are leaving the community, so it's definitely a difficult situation, but I think people are really trying to stay in Altadena and not leave their homes, but it is a hard choice that you have to make. Well, I definitely think doing stuff like this, having an oral history is really, really important because we lost a lot of stuff in the fire. I think just talking about it and keeping the dialogue going, and even though it's been around six months since it happened, I want. I don't want people to forget that it happened and just to blow over and people to worry about the next thing. I think we need to keep having these discussions and keep people informed. Mm. I think that just Altadena has been such a special place to me, and whenever I come home from trips and stuff, I always feel this sense of community and home. And I've never felt that anywhere else before. And just being there makes me feel complete, and it's just a special place, and I hope people realize that and invest in it.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164550/file/299659#t=3.76,175.83"}]},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164550/file/299659/index/90419","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["Auto-generated Index (2025-11-05 22:05:38) [Index]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164550/file/299659/index/90419/annotation/2","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Growing Up in Altadena and Early Community Life","format":"text/plain","label":{"en":["Title"]}}],"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164550/file/299659#t=0.0,34.0"},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164550/file/299659/index/90419/annotation/3","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"The speaker describes their lifelong residence in Altadena, emphasizing that it is the only home they have ever known.
