So we're just like running around with these, like little lights around the house. And we all sewed. Wasn't weren't very aware that like, the fire was this big or like the winds were that bad. Um, it was definitely a very, like quick evacuation. I think it took us like, 20 minutes to, like, pack what we needed up. And then we kind of thought that, like, we were going to just come back after to, like, get more stuff. But then, um, we were really like, prepared that to know that how fast the fire was moving and stuff like that. Um, so the power had gone out a while ago, but we went to my grandparents because it was my grandma's birthday. Um, but when we got back, it was like pitch black everywhere. So we just had to, like, use, like, these little lights that we had from like emergency kits and like our phone like flashlights. But I think like for the most part, we had enough light to pack like the essentials. But I wish we had full light to pack. Um, I definitely wasn't thinking right when I packed. Like, I kind of went into like a oh my gosh, I'm going to be so bored. I need to pack activities to do. Like, um, I didn't really pack. What now? I wish I had packed like, souvenirs that I've gotten from, like, places that I can't really go back to. And then I usually I kind of packed like stuff that I could literally buy on Amazon. Not like the stuff that I can't replace. Um, like, we go on a lot of big trips. So last year we went to Africa and we got these like special Disney pins from because we did it by Disney. And then a few years ago. Before that, we went to Peru and I got this, like salt rock from the salt mines and like a little crystal from the Galapagos. And I just don't think that, like, we're probably gonna go there for a while. Um, we went to our best friends, my parents best friend's house, but they're also a really good family. Friends? Um, they live in Pasadena, but they did get evacuated to the morning the morning after, because we slept at their house that night. But we were just watching the news, like drinking hot cocoa. And then, like, in the morning, everything was so, like, hectic. And the fire had grown like, um, much more acres. Um, well, the next morning after that, we decided to. We have a house in Las Vegas. So we just decided to get away because, like, it was like the smoke was really bad and my mom doesn't have really good skin, so like. And then our dog was with us, so we were just like, let's just go to Vegas because that's where everyone kind of is familiar. So, um, we stopped at this place called Eddie's World, and which is like a big, giant cupcake on the way to Las Vegas. And we were just, like, buying candy and, like, Slurpees and the regular stuff. And then my dad wasn't with us. So it was me, my sisters, my mom, my grandma and my dog. And, um, my dad called us and told us that our neighbor who's like, um, a little older, he he but he's like, he doesn't have any kids. So he's kind of like a grandparent to us. He called us and he was like, your house is engulfed in flames. But we didn't really, like, believe him because sometimes he's a little, um, like crazy and starts imagining things. So we were like, yeah, but, um, I actually found out that my school had burned down before my house, so that's when kind of I knew that it was not good. I went to Saint Mark's, which, um, I think we all woke up like around seven and we were kind of like, we didn't have breakfast. We were like all kind of like, um, but then we we just packed everything up and just went as soon as possible. Like, I think we left around like 830, but, um, by then we were just like, we're just going to go straight, like, we're not even going to stop, except for like, Eddie's World and Starbucks. But yeah. No, usually, usually Vegas is like a four hour drive and we go there like pretty often. So we know like shortcuts. So we got there to Vegas around like 530. So the yeah, the first part was pretty like like regular like it was since we had all of our cars. My grandma and my sister were in one car story, and then me and Sofia and my mom and my dog were in the other car, but it was kind of just like regular we were. But then after Eddie's this world. We kind of started like realizing that it's kind of like gone. Not to like, um, well, we my parents own like an Airbnb, which we went there, but it's kind of small. So we were like, oh, we should probably just like go there for now because school was like for my sisters, because their school didn't burn down. Um, they was like starting up again. So we were like, oh, we have to go back around like January 15th, I think. Yeah. And then eventually we got like a small place in La Canada. It was like enough bedrooms, but it was through a friend from like my dad. I don't know how my dad knew him, but like he was like, I have this house if you guys need. And we stayed there for a while, like until March, I think, or no, I think it was until May. May. And then we moved to our now permanent house. It was it definitely started off with this like my sister or there's like they go to lunch prep store in Sofia. So they have this like our friend she owns like a little shoe company, but she was having like all these major brands like, like Lululemon, like donate to her, her place. And there was just a bunch of, like, clothes for us and like, things we needed like, um, I don't even know, like, me and my best friend. Her house also burned down. We got these matching little, like, duck stuffed animals and most of our clothes there are. We definitely got a lot of clothes that I don't think we would have gotten, like, if it hadn't happened. Like, someone gifted us, like, really nice pajamas and, like, jewelry and stuff. And then, um, we also did Altadena girls, so that was good. And then, um, we also had like a lot of small donations, like little bags people would give us and that now for a while just cluttered our house until we like, like moved. And we sorted all of it. Um, so I just bike there every, every day for practice and then, like, we can walk there for, like, dinner or like to play pickleball or go to the pool or anything. Um, I think I would, but, like, I really love Pasadena now, even though, like, Altadena will probably, like, always be different. Um, but I think if I could go back, I would because like, I was I was graduating this year from Saint Mark's, so I think it would have been nice to graduate from like the school school. Okay, so this is my little purple bunny named Violet. And when during Covid, I think Sofia and I, my older sister, we had like a bunch of these like from Easter, it was like a pink, blue and purple one and we were just like, play with them because my American Girl doll clothes would fit on them. So like, we could dress them up and like, play with them. And then when we were evacuating, I was deciding like, oh God, what stuffed animal to bring because I had this, like big bucket. And then, um, I saw all the ones that were kind of cuter, which were like all my jelly cats, which I had a lot of them, like a big collection, and they were all very cute, but I thought that this one would probably be more significant. Like if anything did happen to our house, I don't think I would want a jelly cat. I got like two years ago, rather than like this bunny that Sofia and I used to play with a lot. Yeah. Yes. Oh.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164584/file/299693#t=449.8,560.01"}]},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164584/file/299693/index/90451","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["Auto-generated Index (2025-11-05 22:32:06) [Index]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164584/file/299693/index/90451/annotation/4","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"The Chaos of the Fire and Quick Evacuation","format":"text/plain","label":{"en":["Title"]}}],"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164584/file/299693#t=0.0,70.0"},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164584/file/299693/index/90451/annotation/5","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"The speaker describes the confusion and urgency during the initial moments of the fire.
