Frankly, I'm a writer, and I was very involved with my writing. And I was fairly new to Altadena. I'd been I've been here for about four years. So there's a coffee shop that I would go to on Mariposa, sometimes to write and sometimes I'd. I've just met people there that were living in Altadena and we became friends. In fact, one of them told me that I should meet her father, and we met, and he ended up being one of the places where I went when I needed a place to stay in Echo Park. So it was a friendly place. It was very organic. And you just said T and it's it's just gone. Um, that street was, like, very welcoming and friendly. It's so the other place that I used to go a lot was by JPL, the stream, because I love to look at the reflections of the trees and the pond and the ripples. And it was my place. Um. So afterwards, I really wasn't sure if that was a place you could go to, you know, um, I didn't know if it was safe. I used to go to Grocery Outlet a lot, and that was closed. Uh, it was kind of eerie driving around. I sometimes went to Fair Oaks Burger that was closed. It was. It was sort of like a graveyard. Um, when you drove around. Um, but I, I left right after the fires. I mean, when I left, there was a flame in my window, you know, outside my window. And so I didn't come back for a long time because I was reading about the toxicity and and the type of, uh, stuff that could be in the air. There was a, a school that burnt down right adjacent to my place. Um, we also used to have open mic at the main library. Um, and my, my neighbor and I hosted one monthly, and so that all stopped. Um, I lived in a senior retirement community, and, um. I was just so disappointed because I would write to them or call them or ask them, you know, do you want me to send you education about what's going on there? And they were like, no. And the management, uh, the corporate like management, the property management did not, like, return my emails. And, um, I saw that there were public health advisories because there was disaster assistance centers, which was they were pretty amazing. I think that's for another group. But there was a lot of organizations there. Um, and the public health, you know, and environmental health places would tell you that the landlords were supposed to clean off the exteriors of the buildings and inside the inside walls, floors and ceilings. And my management, they just didn't. They just didn't. I didn't feel safe coming back to that community. Um, which meant that I ended up having 11 displacements, different places, staying with different people. Um, the Baha'i community gave me, um, places to stay and sometimes paid for a hotel. A person from my junior high and high school sent me $400. I mean, and I asked a friend, do you have sisters in Torrance? And she, you know, and then she asked her sisters and I stayed, you know, at their place. It was it was sort of like from one place to another. Um.
