So we, um, our house is contaminated with a lot of chemicals. Harmful chemicals. So, um, we are unable to go back at the moment and are waiting for our house to be cleaned. Um, I think the main word I would use would be a diverse community. Um, I think what makes Altadena so special is the diversity within economic backgrounds, beliefs and, um, and ethnicities. I think that's what makes it so beautiful. It's a group of people that are all working beautifully, and they come together even before the fires. I've definitely seen, um, it being definitely one of the most prominent communities that have come together. So I think it's always been a strong set of people. Um, personally, I would think so. I my experience has been a lot with, um, community involvement, despite going through this tragedy myself as an Altadena resident, I really like to get myself involved within the community and help others who might not have similar access to resources like I did. Um, and I definitely saw that everyone is willing to help and come together despite their own loss. So which made it really beautiful to see, um, I think for the future, the main thing I want to see is, um, just everyone come back together. I know a lot of that may seem a little bit unrealistic, because some people are facing different financial barriers that may prevent them from coming back. But, um, yeah, I think this is all kind of rooted in my main fear of like, Altadena getting gentrified. And, um, a lot of our people getting, um, moved out from, due to certain financial reasons or, um, larger companies are buying them out. So I think just everyone coming together and rebuilding as much as possible, that's really the main thing I'd say. Um, I think one thing I've noticed is definitely the financial assistance that like the state of California or certain departments are offering. I know it's a little bit hard to access this money. At least that's what I've heard specifically from people's experiences. So I really hope to see if there can be definitely more money offered and relief offered through larger systems such as like Fafsa or again, through the state of California. So if that's possible to really try and have as much financial help to these residents. I think everyone would have kind of a similar answer to say that we are very resilient. Um, I think that's the main thing that defines us right now, just to see how we've grown as a community despite the tragedy, as well as, um, how we've adapted and made it our own and use different forms of self-expression to overcome and make something beautiful out of a loss. Um, yes. I use my art as self-expression. So I made this kind of collection about Altadena, highlighting how devastating the tragedy was. But, um, despite the tragedy, how we've grown from it. So I used the metaphor of a fire poppy, which is a poppy that only grows under fire conditions. Um, so I kind of used that in an art sculpture to kind of reside with everything that's going on and how beautiful our resilience are. Um, I'd say personally, what's helped me a lot and with dealing with grief is definitely community involvement, despite going through the same events and catastrophic, um, change. I really say to get involved in your community and helping as much as you can with your resources. I think helping others that are going through something similar makes an impact on you, and kind of gives you a new perspective on how to approach your privilege with certain resources, whereas some people may not have the same. So yeah, definitely helping out as much as you can, um, even in the subtlest ways possible. That's definitely something very helpful.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164565/file/299673#t=4.08,268.77"}]},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164565/file/299673/index/90433","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["Auto-generated Index (2025-10-29 20:43:23) [Index]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164565/file/299673/index/90433/annotation/2","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Displacement and Impact of Fires","format":"text/plain","label":{"en":["Title"]}}],"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164565/file/299673#t=0.0,19.0"},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164565/file/299673/index/90433/annotation/3","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"The speaker describes their current situation of being displaced due to recent fires, which have left their home contaminated with harmful chemicals.
