Um, my daughter found some stuff. My son found some stuff. But other than that, everything. Everything was gone. Um, I think what I miss the most is the our kids artwork and kids schoolwork and letters. Um, that's what I wish. If I'd had more time that day, I would have grabbed those things. We grabbed our cat. Um, so I should have said that we do have our cat. Um, but I didn't take anything else with me that day. I mean, it's preschool, I think is what I miss the most. You know, I saved all of those early drawings. I had a huge bin of them that I kept under my bed, and I'd always meant to send them to one of those places that makes books out of them, and I just never did. It was always on my list of things to do. Um, so that's probably what I miss the most. I think we had all of our pictures were digital, so I thank God we have, you know, all of our kids pictures and stuff. All of my pictures from growing up, from high school, from college, those are all gone. Um, all of my husband's pictures from childhood are gone. Um, but yeah, I think it's it's definitely the kid stuff that weighs on me for not taking it was really more my daughter than my son. Um, I think though, it was the sense of, oh, we found it. There's going to be more and more and more and there wasn't. So it was a little bit of false hope, almost. I mean, in a very cheesy way, I've discovered the power of community after all of this. Um, the fact that we all miss it so much, I think shows us how important it was to us. I think there has been an incredible sort of online community that's come out of all of this. The WhatsApp chats and the, um, even all of the, like, T-shirts and sweatshirts and stickers that people have been making. Um, that's been really gratifying to see. Um, but I think there was a sense in the Palisades, and I really hope this can come back, a sense that it was just it was a safe place. It was a place where you knew your kids could go on their bikes and, and, you know, there was cafes where you could have family accounts and you could go in and just, oh, I'll have an ice cream and put it on our account. And. And you don't find that in Los Angeles really at all? Um, and I hope that can come back, um, this sense that you were in a place that that knew you and cared about you and, um, and that no matter what, if you walked around, you would see someone you knew. It may not be someone you knew well, but someone that you recognized or someone. Um. Yeah. And I hope that can come back. I mean, certainly, I think everyone that I've spoken to wants it to return to what it was before. It's just the question of, you know, the practicalities of it and how many people are going to be able to come back. And, um, I think things have slowed down to an extent. That's a little concerning. Um, the debris removal went so quickly and so well, and I just was so impressed by that. But that's now done. And so I'd like to see that same sense of urgency with getting people starting building again, um, and being really thoughtful and creative in how they do that. Um, because that worries me. And there's lots of things going on in the world that are making this that will make this a lot more difficult. And that also concerns me. Will there be enough construction workers? Will there be enough materials? Are the tariffs going to, you know, make things impossible to rebuild? So all of these things that are happening, um, and it concerns me that there's no one in power who's really talking about these things in a way that, um, would make me feel comfortable. So that's sort of what I'm hoping for at the moment. I've been a lot more intentional in what I'm replacing. Um, so I don't think we're going to replace I know we're not going to replace everything that we lost. We didn't need most of what we had. I think that's been a lesson as well. And when we're replacing, I'm trying to replace with good quality things that will last for a long time and not a lot of junk. Um, we had a lot of junk before, um, and I'm trying to stay away from that. Um, there's a, there is a weird sense of freedom to be rid of all that junk and to be able to start anew again, with intention and with a lot more sort of care put into that. And also the things that were important that we want to replace. Um, there were some, some cookbooks that we had that we managed to find on Amazon that were super old cookbooks from like the 80s and the 70s. Um, that was important to me to replace, not necessarily the fancy things that we had. Um, so it's been interesting to find out what's what's been important for us to replace as quickly as we wanted to replace it. I hope this never, ever, ever happens again. I think this was not I hear a lot of people say things like, well, this was climate change or this was inevitable. I don't believe that it was inevitable. Yes. I think climate change certainly impacted what happened. Um, this didn't have to happen. There were dozens of mistakes that have been taking place for the last, I don't know, 30 years that led to this moment. Um, this did not have to happen. And again, I'm disappointed that there hasn't been a lot of urgency from our elected officials to fix the things that led to this. Um, and as we rebuild, that has to happen. Um, and I try not to focus on the negative, but it's incredibly disappointing that there hasn't been discussion and that we still don't know really why it happened, and we still don't have an explanation as to why the reservoirs were empty and why the firefighters were gone. I mean, we have friends who spent hours on their roof with a hose that night and never saw one firefighter. And that infuriates me and I just want answers to it.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164615/file/299723#t=120.15,435.81"}]},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164615/file/299723/index/90481","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["Auto-generated Index (2025-12-15 22:09:03) [Index]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164615/file/299723/index/90481/annotation/7","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Loss of Physical and Sentimental Items","format":"text/plain","label":{"en":["Title"]}}],"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164615/file/299723#t=0.0,48.0"},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164615/file/299723/index/90481/annotation/8","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"The speaker describes the aftermath of a disaster, emphasizing the total loss of physical possessions.
