But just to be aware, because it might go over to the west. And I thought, oh, that's really far away. It's not going to come over here. So I basically slept through a little beep that I heard on my phone. And when I woke up, I saw fire in my window, in the window. It was like I didn't know what it was, but it was the house across the street burning. I was like, I grabbed her and my doctor. Doctor Marty's food, and I mentioned him because I told him. I told them that I had to throw all their food away and it's expensive. And they sent me a big box of food. I mean, they were like, amazing. But my, um, my, my retirement community was not, um, tuned in to the public health advisories. They didn't clean the outside of the building. They didn't do certain things they were supposed to do, like clean the inside walls and floor and ceiling. So I basically got rid of most of my belongings. And, uh, with the help of a dear friend, Monica, who suited up in a Tyvek suit with me. So I think your question about what I've learned is one that I really need to think about. Initially, I have a couple of responses to it. One is, um, that I learned to that I need to be more assertive and tell people what I'm experiencing, because when I recently wrote on Facebook and told people about this wonderful organization that helped me called A Sense of Home, they provided furniture. They redid my my place. They. Anyway, um, I could tell that people didn't really know what I had been experiencing because I hadn't really been saying it. And if I had put it out there more, I might have had an easier time of being invited to stay places. Um, there is an aspect of being in a situation like that where you have to be assertive and ask. And I did ask at certain times. I asked if I might be able to stay somewhere or would stay with someone's sister. And, um, the result was good. You know, I was able to, uh. Another thing that I think I've learned is, um, that when you're in a situation like this, when you're displaced and I know my situation is nothing like what it is for a lot of people in the world, it's kind of a privileged situation in comparison that you don't really feel like you belong, even if you're at a. I wasn't invited, and I didn't know some of the people that I was staying with, so I didn't really feel like I belonged. Um, and one place I stayed the person was that they were so nice to have invited me, but they said things like, um, well, we're not going to make any room in the refrigerator for you. Just figure it out. nd, um, how long are you going to be here? I mean, it was just. nd this organization, a sense of home, which I later encountered. They sent me a note. I found it in a bag of kitchen utensils they gave me, and it said, our hearts are with you. You're not alone. nd that note meant so much to me, and I think that people don't understand. nd I didn't understand how much a little note means. If one person on Facebook on a site called Beautiful ltadena. She said she actually asked people if they would send little notes and gifts, little gifts and notes. I just admire her assertiveness because I love little gifts and notes, so I'm hoping that I can be the person that gives the little gift or the note. It's not my specialization because I have .D.D.. I barely remember people's birthdays, and maybe we'll give a like a sort of universal present when I see the person next. So this is like, you know, because there's you just never know who's hurting or what they're going through unless they put it on Facebook. Perhaps it would have been worth it to rent an expensive apartment and not go through 11 displacements. I would have spent like my retirement savings or, you know, some of it a significant amount. But, um, and actually each place had its, uh, beauty. You know, there were wonderful things that happened at each place. nd I met people that were, you know, good and interesting and inspiring. Um. Uh, I hope that if I ever am in a position to be a host like that, then I can be as open as the second place. Well, the first place I was displaced was a church, and they just, like, let everybody come in with their dogs and their kids. nd they were all, you know, on the floors and the couches. I mean, that's an Episcopalian church, and I really respect them for doing that. There's so many good Organizations that reached out. I was at a disaster assistance program, and somebody let me smell some beautiful, um, you know, essential oil to come down. nd, uh, you know, there was the Red cross. There was Didi Hirsch, um, 988, you know, somebody representing 988. Um, those were really nice moments. I've even had a beautiful moment here. There was a clergy person. She's an eco chaplain, and she listened to me for a while. Because you don't necessarily know who to tell your story to. I've written about it, and I'm hoping to submit what I've written to your program. I got some emails. Um, but I think your question at this station here is one that I need to ponder, Like. One of the things I think that I didn't mention is that I've learned how little material things you need, because I walked out of my place with my jeans and a shirt from Ross that said Love and Be Loved, which got very worn out. nd I eventually bought this, um, at target. It was like, I can buy myself something, you know? This was, like, really special. Um, and I got these shoes when I went. Was at a downtown hotel called style. It used to be the ce Hotel. Um, so I'm trying to remember where I'm going with this train of thought. Um, it's it's about that you can really do with very little. nd it was there was a nice simplicity about it. Like when I'd get up in the morning, it was like, am I going to wear a short sleeved shirt or am I going to wear a long sleeve shirt? m I going to wear this pair of pants, or am I going to wear that pair of pants? It was. nd then it's actually been a little bit hard to adjust to having more clothes in my closet. Now I'm not sure. Maybe I will go minimalist in the future or try to really, you know, just keep to things that, um, that I really love. And I'm really into colors like teal and orange and. And it was long and it looked good on me, and it was just like one of the only things I missed. Now I feel silly crying over it. You people sometimes aren't available. They have too much on their plate at the time. Um, even if they have tons of money, they they're like, they have stuff going on in their life, but like, oh, God, it's so surprising Who, who, who like comes forward at certain times. And she sent me money for, um, a hotel room. And, um, these the Christian disaster relief, these ladies in pioneer dresses came and were scrubbing my floor and my my, uh, my, uh, balls.
