Sure. Um, like the night of and all that? Yeah. Okay. So the night of the fire, um, I actually had, uh, I live west of Lake, so in fairly far away from the mountains. Um, I had a good friend of mine who lived right by Eaton Canyon, and so she noticed the fire. She was pretty panicked. So I told her, come over to my house. We're going to be fine. Um, she came over with her dog, and we kind of sat around for a little bit trying to decide what to do. We in no way thought that the fire was ever going to get close to us. Um, but we did decide to go to a hotel because we were worried that if there was an evacuation, that maybe there'd be too much traffic. I've got two small kids. I didn't want to panic them, so we just decided to go to a hotel. Um, and then the next day, we found out our house was gone. I think, first off, I think it's important that, um, our neighbors all know each other a little bit better. I think on my street in particular, we would wave to each other, but we didn't really know each other. We didn't really have a way to, like, reach out to one another. And so making sure that we all have each other's phone numbers and things like that in case there is an emergency seems pretty important. Um, also, not just assuming that we're going to get notification in time, or that the fire department is going to be able to help us. I think kind of realizing that maybe we're on our own when it comes to emergencies a little bit more. Um, that's certainly one. But I think really making sure that the community is tight knit is something that's important. Great question. I don't really know what went wrong, but the fact that we had, I think maybe we got a notification at three something in the morning, but we were at the hotel based on just what happened in our neighborhood, it's clear our house was gone by then. So if we had stayed, we would have been in a really scary situation. So whatever they did to notify or lack thereof, they need to fix it. I don't I don't know what that entails, but it's certainly something that needs to be done because that was especially for our elderly neighbors. Someone just two houses down from mine died. Um, she wasn't able to get out of her house in time. We had neighbors up the street who lost pets because they weren't able to load all their pets into the car. Um, so it's a that was a real failure there. I don't know who to who to blame necessarily, but it needs to be addressed. Yeah, that's a good question. I don't know if I'm super concerned about accountability as much as I'm concerned about just fixing it. Whatever it is, I don't know that, you know, anyone needs to go down for this, but I definitely believe that this never this should never happen again, whatever that is. But, um, I think that's what I'm mostly concerned about is just fix whatever this problem was. Right. That's a good question. I mean, I think part of it is, again, that we need to make sure that our voices are heard. I think being an unincorporated city is kind of tough for us. You know, we don't have a mayor, we don't have all that kind of stuff. So I think making sure that we do have some kind of a platform where our voices can be heard and that we work together, um, whether it be trying to underground utilities or things like that, that we're really speaking up. I think if we can make sure that we do that, that's going to be a great lesson that we learned from this, is that there's strength in numbers and that we need to make sure that that we speak up. I do think that there should be some kind of changes. I mean, undergrounding, I don't know how if that would fix the problem, but certainly aesthetically would be pleasing. Um, but if it's safer, that would be amazing. I do think also, I mean, I still have questions of why are power was still on when the winds were like 100 miles an hour. So I don't know if there can be better safety procedures for that too. If like, hey, you've got a crazy windstorm in, you know, super dry conditions. Let's be proactive about this. I think that would be helpful. Um, making sure that brush is cleared from areas that do have high voltage lines seems kind of like a no brainer, but I'm certainly not an expert in this. But but yeah, I do think there need to be some changes with the infrastructure for sure, like oversight of utilities and things like that. Yeah, I mean, kind of I do, I do think that if if the Eaton fire was sees fault, that there certainly needs to be accountability there and maybe more government oversight. Um, but yeah, this this definitely seems like a failure.","format":"text/plain"},"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164571/file/299680#t=3.24,285.8"}]},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164571/file/299680/index/90439","type":"AnnotationPage","label":{"en":["Auto-generated Index (2025-11-05 20:50:43) [Index]"]},"items":[{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164571/file/299680/index/90439/annotation/2","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"Introduction and Immediate Response to the Fire","format":"text/plain","label":{"en":["Title"]}}],"target":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164571/file/299680#t=0.0,57.0"},{"id":"https://lapl.aviaryplatform.com/collections/3578/collection_resources/164571/file/299680/index/90439/annotation/3","type":"Annotation","motivation":"supplementing","body":[{"type":"TextualBody","value":"The speaker introduces themselves as a teacher living in Altadena and recounts the events on the night of the fire.
