The USC Annenberg Center on Communication Leadership and Policy hosted the Wildfire Youth Media Initiative during summer 2025 for high school students who had been affected by the LA wildfires in January of that year. Under the mentorship of USC faculty and Los Angeles journalists, 18 students — nine from the Pacific Palisades and nine from Altadena — came together to turn their stories and the stories of their community members into local news pieces. This oral history archive is comprised of interviews conducted by those students to preserve the memories and lessons of the devastating fires.
